Matteo Basilè was born in 1974 in Rome and is one of the leading exponents of digital art in Italy and Europe. He débuts in 1997 with his first solo exhibition at the gallery Il Ponte Contemporanea in Rome.
He exhibits in many of the most prestigious contexts in Italy and abroad.
In 2002 he is awarded with the Premio New York and in 2009 his works are shown in the Padiglione Italia at the 53rd edition of the Venice Biennale.
For ten years he has been mixing digital culture with classical iconography, thus reinventing the very idea of portrait.
