Andy

In the critical essy written for the catalogue of "Art Happens Now", Smartarea's first exhibition, Fabiola Naldi claims that artists like Andy play "...a sort of quick memory-recording, where the single frequency joins various hypertexts of our shared knowledge". Reference to memory and hypertexts is in fact a key issue in the works of Andy, an artist musician (he plays in the italian band Bluvertigo). His works often feature graphical elements derived from History of Art, painted with fluo colours and having a rich and hard to define luminescent quality.
"I like to re-live and re-manipulate precious works of art" says Andy (watch him here). A statement that confirms he tries on purpose to link memory and hypertexts. "Knowledge via hypertext - says Andy - has been haunting me since I saw the Wim Wenders movie "Until the End of the World."
