Davide Nido: biography
Davide Nido was born in Senago (MI). After graduating at the Istituto d'Arte Statale in Monza, in 1986 he enrolled on the Architecture Faculty, which he soon abandoned to follow his true artistic vocation. 1987 brought important events in his life: Aldo Mondino asked him to become his assistant, and on his advice Davide chose to enrol on the painting course organised by Luciano Fabro at the Brera Academy, where he met Federico Guida and Dany Vescovi: since then they have been inseparable friends.
In 1989, through Mondino, Nido met the artist Paul Renner, who helped him to the realise many projects, especially in Austria. In 1992 Nido graduated at the Brera Academy, terminating his collaboration with Mondino. In the same year, though, Mondino invited him to take part in the Premio Internazionale d'arte contemporanea in Serre di Rapolano (SI), where he won the prize. Thanks to this contest, Nido met Luciano Pistoi, who invited him to participate in an exhibition in the Volpaia Castle. 1992 was the year of Nido's artistic turning point. Since then events quickly followed each other, leading him to exhibit his artworks in many public spaces. At the same time, he took up the career of teaching: in 1997 he taught at the Accademia di Belle Arti in Neaples (with his friend Marco Cingolani and with Dimitri Kozaris); in 1999 he moved to Brera.
Since then he took part in many important exhibitions in Italy and Europe: among his personal exhibitions there are "Viaggio su M'arte" (Mantova, 2004), "Beruhrungspunkte- Punti di Contatto" (2005, Francoforte), "Davide Nido" (2007, Parigi), "A Campus Point "(2009, Lecco). His many group exhibitions include "Out of the Blue" (2002, Milano), "Flowers" (2005, Lugano), as well as the very recent "Giorni Felici" (2010, Milano).
In 2008 he also took part in the XV Quadriennale d'Arte in Rome, while in 2009 he participated in the 53th edition of the Venice Biennale for the Padiglione Italia.
Davide Nido currently lives and works in Milan.
