Federico Guida
|
Bodies permorming obscure rituals abound in Federico Guida's works. His compositinos draw heavily from theatre and photography; colours and shapes are always “staged”.
Guida, born in 1969, has been Assistant to Aldo Mondino at Accademia di Brera. he won the San Carlo Borromeo prize in 1996, the Premio Marche in 1998 and the Cairo prize and Durini prize in 2002. In the following year he was featured in "La nuova scena artistica italiana", one of the off events of the 50th Venice Biennale. 2007 saw him among the artists at "Italiana", a group show at the Shanghai Art Museum. According to Luca Beatrice "his painting originates from a desire to record and stage a performance; he wants to test the physical resilience of the objects he paints, and of himself as an artist".
