Stefano Bolcato was born in Rome, where he currently lives and works. In the Nineties he attended academic courses at the Scuola libera del nudo all’Accademia di Belle Arti in Rome and the Scuola delle Arti Ornamentali. At the moment his personal research is developing along two different paths. The first one employs landscape and architecture as figurative pretexts: through the combination of a sincere use of the colours with mysterious elements his canvas offer metaphysical atmospheres, becoming the scenery for an introspective analysis). The second one is a pictorial re-reading of a little – yet somehow endless world- which belongs to childhood, but obviously not only to childhood.

Bolcato puts social matter and glimpses of everyday life under an original magnifying glass. The value of these canvases lies not only in their sometimes dramatic content, but also in the brightness of colours and in the sapient use of the close up, which involve the observer, almost dragging him into the world created by the painter.
