Vanni Cuoghi

Vanni Cuoghi is an immediately recognisable painter because of his unique style which effectively combines contemporary themes with the revival of traditional techniques. His canvases isolate on a white background charachters and scenographical elements which remind of the XVIII century and of a neoclassic aesthetics. But this is only a firt, rough, level of reading. There is always a narrative dimension: the vast white emptiness in his works makes his charachters to stand out in a sphere of ambiguity highlighted by architectutal details and inconsistencies.

Finalist at the Premio Cairo 2007 and recently present at the St. Petersburg and Prague Biennials, Vanni Cuoghi is among the most interesting young Italian painters, as demonstrated also by his presence in the 2008 Flash Art ranking.
