Mr. Wany
|
Wany is an artist which pushes some weird stuff into a graffiti language. His painting technique originates from a true metropolitan experience; his aestethics are derived from Japanese cartoons. But a deep rooted uneasiness pushed him to experiment dozens of different techniques. Wany is one of those street artists who do not feel out of place with a canvas, and he manages to have fun with lots of different materials without ever being decorative. In July 2007 we found him on the cover of the Inside Italia magazine, at the top of a shortlist of young selected promising artists. Soon critical attention followed, with an important show at Milan's PAC, curated by Alessandro Riva and under the care of Vittorio Sgarbi. Vulcanic and visceral, Wany attracts graffiti lovers who like pop icons associated with brains in formalin.
