An extremely young painter graduated with full marks from Brera, Emanuele Dottori is the first of the artists presented by Smartarea in the category of absolute newcomers.
We leave to him a description of his own work: “... looking at the body with “x-rays” to rebuild the structure, the principal points, the lines of force, sections, anatomical lines, bones and muscles from within. Drawing the figure and the single parts to the point of exhaustion, until every side, every aspect is possessed in graphic terms. And if you don’t know a given point of view, you draw it, until it is yours! It’s hard work, but instructive... everything starts from a tension. It is a tension that I feel in the object and which I want to re-propose, to push further... then I start work, suddenly, using graphite and breathing hard because much depends upon these first moments: first the outlines, then using turpentine I muddle the volumes and then I use acrylic to start to clean the borders to which my work takes me”.
