Pierluigi Lanzillotta

Pier Lanzillotta is part of a generation of artists which not distinguish among music, painting and sculpture. When we asked him to explain how his intricated creations of ink and vynil see the light, he told us: “My sign has the primary intention to transpose music into visual art and to give a visible answer to the concept of 'whole', mainly on the basis of improvisation”. That of Lanzillotta is a controlled improvisation, in a contanst tension between the ascetism of the minature – the level of details in his drawings is impressive – and a superior and holistic order.
The attention for the tiny, in Lanzillotta, is not connected to aesthetics, but to a profound belief in the power of redemption of the artistic practice: “Only by starting from 'tiny things' it is possible to realise those big changes which are needed and lasting for all”.

Finalist among the Italian artists at the 2009/2011 edition of Jeune Création Européenne - Biennale européenne itinérante d’art contemporain, Lanzillotta is 27 years old and is a young artist of rare originality.
