Stefano Abbiati was born in Milan on  May 30th 1979. He was finalist of the 2004 Italian Factory Prize for the Young Italian Painting and of the 2005 GhigginiArte Prize. In 2005 he achieves the diploma at Brera Fine Arts Academy. In 2007 he worked in New York in Nicola Verlato’s atelier. He actually lives and works in Milan. He spent 2009 in Berlin to perfect his painting technique.

In spite of his young age, he already has some important solo exhibitions to his name, such as, in 2008,  “Dialoghi tra comuni giullari” and “Viaggio molto teatrale ai bordi di una torre d'avorio”, both in Milan, curated by Luca Beatrice and Chiara Canali respectively. In 2010 Gianluca Marziani curated his solo exhibition "Mineralizzazioni" in Milan.
 

He currently lives and works in Milan.
