Michael Rotondi was born in Livorno, even if by now he's at home in Milan and London. Here at Smartarea we are wild about him, and we are convinced that in his art full of freedom and passion lives a bit of the soul of Piero Ciampi, a great songwriter from Livorno.
Unlike Piero, Michael is not known as a wine addict. Certainly Rotondi is in full artistical shape, as shown by a long list of exhibitions in spite of his young age. Most of all, the quality of this painter is signalled by his refusal to be cornered in any art market niche.

Michael Rotondi is the kind of artist who needs to be free. He is trying to creat total art works  and this is why he particularly likes big installations – even if he' at ease with the spirit of his generation, therefore painting, drawing, and mixing fragments of popular culture.
