Stefano Abbiati
|
A disarming irony is the cement that holds the figures together in the paintings of Stefano Abbiati. A strong detachment, marked by the total alienation that arises when one reads the titles, that have absolutely no relationship with the story that seems to be unfolding in the canvas. Narrative is central to Abbiati’s painting, who is nourished by literary models and who includes fragments of everyday life in the composition in the form of phrases, scribbles and words. “I have a great need to play with words”, confesses Abbiati to Smartarea, “because they have a specific weight and an exceptional power".
