In Rome the exhibition "Tagli d'Artista: una storia lunga un secolo"
05/09/10
The exhibition, curated by Livia Velani, will be open until the 7th January at the Galleria nazionale d'arte moderna e contemporanea in Rome.
The centre of the exhibition is represented by Lucio Fontana's work “Ambiente spaziale con tagli”, a large plaster ceiling he realised in 1960 for his friend Antonio Melandri. The two central showrooms of the gallery welcome a selection of works by other artists (such as Klimt, Balla, Boccioni, Manzoni, Calder) who throughout the 20th century tried, just like Fontana himself, to go beyond the very concept of two-dimensional in many different ways.
