The exhibition, curated by Livia Velani, will be open until the 7^th January at the Galleria nazionale d'arte moderna e contemporanea in Rome.

The centre of the exhibition is represented by Lucio Fontana's work “Ambiente spaziale con tagli”, a large plaster ceiling he realised in 1960 for his friend Antonio Melandri. The two central showrooms of the gallery welcome a selection of works by other artists (such as Klimt, Balla, Boccioni, Manzoni, Calder) who throughout the 20^th century tried, just like Fontana himself, to go beyond the very concept of two-dimensional in many different ways.
