The compilation, titled "Tutti inseguono la libertà", features 19 tracks by as many rock, rap, pop, folk and romantic artists. The cover was realised by the Smartarea artist Stefano Abbiati.

Abbiati's work, "Bipolarismi", is emblematic of the link between art and rock music which has been underlying each edition of the musical contest. In his cover, Abbiati portrays the traditional colours of the Italian flag. Yet, they look dripping and slippery, as if to symbolise the fast and unpredictable historical path of a nation.

Before Abbiati, the cover of the Rock Targato Italia compilation had been realised by other two Smartarea artists: Davide Nido in 2003 and Federico Guida in 2005.
