The exhibition, curated by Livia Velani, will be open until the 7^th January at the Galleria nazionale d'arte moderna e contemporanea in Rome.

The centre of the exhibition is represented by Lucio Fontana's work “Ambiente spaziale con tagli”, a large plaster ceiling he realised in 1960 for his friend Antonio Melandri. The two central showrooms of the gallery welcome a selection of works by other artists (such as Klimt, Balla, Boccioni, Manzoni, Calder) who throughout the 20^th century tried, just like Fontana himself, to go beyond the very concept of two-dimensional in many different ways.

The Mart takes us to America

From 4^th July to 12^th September the Mart will host a collective exhibition dedicated to American art in the years between 1850 and 1960.

The exhibition, curated by Susan Behrends Frank and Gabriella Belli welcomes artworks belonging to the Phillips Collection, based in Washington DC. Such artworks share the attempt to show us the multi-faceted complexity of America, through the representation of its natural landscapes and its big cities. Slices of everyday life also play a significant role, in their attempt to catch feelings and thoughts of the people who are portrayed. As well as the value of each single artist - Winslow Homer, Ernest Lawson, John Sloan, John Marin ed Edward Hopper among them – Duncan Phillilps's sensitivity and critical sharpness stand out: throughout his life he was able to recognise the talent of many young and still unknown artists.

Mixed reactions at the Mike Kelley solo show at Museion. Kelley is an outstanding artist, but the display of the Bolzano museum has been criticised by more than one visitor. Smartarea still thinks that

"Educational Complex Onwards, 1995-2008" should not be missed at all costs.

Andrea Chiesi at Artisti, Pazzi e Criminali Group Show

The show opens on the 4th of December at CORSOVENEZIAOTTO (corso Venezia 8, Milan). Until the 18th of January.

Peter Doig in Paris

After a first show at Tate Britain, and before arriving in Frankfurt (9 october 2008), the big Peter Doig exhibition is now to be seen at the Musée d'Art moderne de la Ville de Paris. One hundred works by an artist who, despise being little known at large, sells at incredibly high prices.
